Man Arrested After Allegedly Hitting A Police Officer
Police encountered 43-year-old Barry Watson who was acting erratic and aggressive.
A man has been detained after allegedly hitting a police officer while resisting arrest.
On Monday, Horry County Police responded to the area of Spring Branch Road in Nichols on reports of a disturbance. Upon arrival, police encountered 43-year-old Barry Watson who was acting erratic and aggressive.
An officer asked him to calm down and when he refrained, the officer attempted to detain Watson. He allegedly pulled his arm away and shoved the officer before hitting him in the face, causing multiple bloody lacerations.
Watson then allegedly refused attempts to detain him before a taser was deployed and he was eventually put in handcuffs.
Before that incident, a victim claimed Watson assaulted them causing them to lose consciousness and allegedly choked them as well.
Meth was also found in one of Watson’s pants pockets. He is charged with second-degree assault, assault on a police officer while resisting arrest and possession of methamphetamine.
