On Tuesday, a crash involving five vehicles resulted in six deaths and left 18 others injured. The incident occurred on Interstate 70 in Licking County, Ohio.
A charter bus carrying 54 high school students and chaperones, was rear-ended by a semi-truck. Three passengers on the bus were pronounced dead at the scene and 15 students and the bus driver were taken to hospitals.
Meanwhile, three people in one of the passenger vehicles involved were also pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of another passenger vehicle was also transported to a hospital.
All the vehicles were traveling westbound along the highway when the chain-reaction crash happened around 9am. At least three vehicles caught fire due to the crash as well.
The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the crash and what caused it remains unclear at this time.
