Several Suspicious Fire Outbreaks Prompt Concerns Over Acts Of Arson

The fire department has handled around 16 fires at abandoned houses and a few others at dumpsters.

Since January, there has been several fire out breaks in the Maxton Community of Robeson County.

Maxton Fire Chief Shawn Phillips explained they have handled around 16 fires at abandoned houses and a few others at dumpsters. He added that the fires are igniting at night and are more than likely the work of an arsonist.

Phillips says he needs all the resources he can get to investigate. If anyone witnesses anything out of the ordinary or can provide any information regarding the fires, you are urged to contact the Maxton Fire Department .
