Large Pile-Up Along An Interstate Resulted In 7 Deaths And Left Many Injured
At least 158 vehicles were involved in the pile-up from lanes traveling north and southbound.
A major vehicle pile-up in Louisiana resulted in several deaths and left many others injured.
The accident took place on Interstate-55 in St. John the Baptist Parish, which is located 30 miles up the Mississippi River from New Orleans. At least 158 vehicles were involved in the pile-up from lanes traveling north and southbound.
Seven deaths have been confirmed and over 25 individuals were transported to nearby hospitals with injuries ranging from critical to minor.
Officials said the large crash occurred due to layers of ‘super fog’ in the area, which forms when a mix of smoke and moisture from damp, smoldering brush, leaves, trees and other organic material mixes with cooler air.
