Recall Placed On Gun Safes After A Fatal Incident
The recall was placed due to a safety hazard and risk of death caused by a programming feature that allows unauthorized access to the safes. In one incident a 12-year-old boy died.
Federal safety regulators have issued a recall on over 61,000 gun safes.
The recall includes portable lock boxes, personal safes, pistol vaults, and gun cabinets with brand names Fortress, Cabela’s, Gettysburg, and Legend Range and Field.
The products were sold at stores such as Bass Pro Shop, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Lowe’s, and more as well as online through Amazon and Ebay. The safes were sold from January of 2019 though this month.
