Walmart Announced It Will Close Its Doors On Thanksgiving
In recent years, employers continued to close down for the holiday in order to thank their employees for their hard work during the global health crisis giving them extra time off.
Walmart became the first major retailer to announce it will close its doors on Thanksgiving for the fourth consecutive year.
Companies once capitalized on the holiday as an early start to Black Friday shopping. However, closing the stores on holidays became a growing trend that started during the COVID-19 pandemic. In recent years, employers continued to close down for the holiday in order to thank their employees for their hard work during the global health crisis giving them extra time off.
Walmart US CEO John Furner said Thanksgiving is a special day during a very busy season and they want people to spend it at home with family and loved ones.
It is unclear if other major retailers will follow in suit.
