The annual Bike the Beach ride is set to occur this weekend.

The charity event first started three years ago in memory of Myrtle Beach High School graduate Whit Oliver who died in 2021. The ride supports bicycle and pedestrian advocacy efforts throughout the Grand Strand area.

Attendees can choose to bike a 62-mile ride around the county, a 30-mile showcase loop around Myrtle Beach or a free 10-mile family ride.

Part of the proceeds from the event go to the Flaming Hot Wheels Club which provides bicycles for kids at the Boys and Girls Club of the Grand Strand.

The event is set to start at 9a.m. on Sunday on Ocean Boulevard between 8th and 9th Avenue North.
