Cam Turning Heads With Postgame Look
CHARLOTTE, NC– Cam Newton loves clothes, appreciates fashion and seems to delight in sparking conversation over his post-game ensembles.
The Carolina quarterback won his first career playoff game Saturday then appeared to be wearing a tuxedo in his post-game news conference.
Newton stepped to the podium in a navy blue jacket — it may have been velvet — with leather lapels. He for at least the second time this season wore pants that were immediately chided on social media for being capris.
The pants hit the 6-foot-5 Newton at the ankles, which were sockless. He completed the look with what appeared to be velvet smoking slippers.
Newton, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2011 draft, has turned heads before with his outfits.
He has his own clothing line “MADE Cam Newton” at Belk, and a pair of pants he wore earlier this season were lambasted on ESPN’s “Monday Night Countdown” during its “C’mon Man!” segment. GQ also took a shot, calling Newton’s look earlier this season “premeditated croppery.”
“You’ll be hard-pressed to find a bigger advocate of the ‘Shorter Pants for Men’ movement than us,” GQ wrote of Newton’s look in September. “We always say pants on your suit should have no break, and we’re all about flashing some ankle in casual looks. But there is such a thing as taking it too far.”
