Shots Fired At A Football Game In Georgetown County

The motivation behind the events remain unclear but the Georgetown County School district is working with Georgetown County Police to provide as much information as they can.

Georgetown County School District Superintendent Keith Price released a statement addressing shots fired at a football game.

On Friday, the game between Georgetown High School and Andrews High School was canceled during half-time after a fight broke out between a small group of students near the concession stand. While officers were addressing the fight, shots were fired in the parkinglot outside the stadium.

Price’s statement said the motivation behind the events remain unclear but the district is working with county police to provide as much information as they can.

Police identified Tyrell Handy as the person who fired the shots and he is wanted on several charges.

Anyone with information on Handy’s whereabouts is urged to contact authorities. Anyone else involved is also expected to face consequences.
