Russia Terminates Ukraine Grain Agreement

A Kremlin spokesman said as soon as the Russian part of the agreements are met, then the country will immediately return to the grain deal.

On Monday, Russia announced it is terminating a major agreement with Ukraine.

The Kremlin said it is ceasing the Black Sea Grain Initiative pact that allowed Ukraine to export over 32 million tons of grain over the last year alone.

The announcement came shortly after drones struck Russia’s Kerch bridge, which is the only connection between its mainland and the annexed Crimea peninsula. The road is a significant supply line for Russian forces resupplying frontlines in South Ukraine.

Moscow said the deadly bridge attack has nothing to do with its withdrawal and for months has expressed disapproval of the pact that was designed to ease fears of food shortages.
