DOE Confirms Date For Student Loan Payment Pause To End
Student loan interest will resume starting on September 1st and payments will be due starting in October.
On Monday, the Department of Education confirmed the date when millions of borrowers will be required to start paying their monthly federal student loan bills for the first time since March of 2020.
A pause was placed on payments as a courtesy to borrowers during the COVID-19 Pandemic.
The Biden Administration previously shared that the pause would end either 60 days after June 30th or 60 days after the Supreme Court rules on the legality of President Biden’s ‘Student Loan Forgiveness Program‘.
A law passed earlier this month to address the debt ceiling officially prevented the pandemic-related pause from being extended again which has been extend a total of eight times.
Student loan interest will resume starting on September 1st and payments will be due starting in October.
Borrowers will be notified before the payment restart.
