‘Signal Error’ Leads to Deadly Indian Train Crash

Authorities in India have identified the cause of the country's worst train crash in decades.

According to the railway minister, the three-way crash involving two passenger trains and a freight train was the result of a change in the electronic signaling system. The collision took place on Friday and officials are now clearing the crash site, after ending their search for survivors. So far, more than 270 people have been confirmed dead, with nearly 12-hundred taken to hospitals. India’s Prime Minister has visited some of the injured, and promised accountability for the tragedy. Across eastern India, people have been honoring the victims with candle-lit vigils and flowers. Officials say they will compensate everyone affected by the disaster.
