House GOP’s Select Panel To Investigate DOJ And FBI
The proposed idea would give the House GOP's power to investigate all on-going criminal probes of the executive branch.
House Republicans are preparing to investigate the Department of Justice and the FBI.
The new House GOP majority wants to form a new Select Subcommittee. The proposal is from newly appointed House Speaker, Kevin McCarthy’s key concessions that he made to his opposition to secure the position.
The proposed idea would give the House GOP’s power to investigate all on-going criminal probes of the executive branch. The Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government would be authorized to receive information available to the permanent Select Committee on Intelligence.
The Select Subcommittee would be under the jurisdiction of the House Judiciary Committee. If the proposal is passed, McCarthy would be able to select 13 lawmakers to serve on the Subcommittee, five of which would be chosen with the confirmation from House Democrat Leader, Hakeem Jeffries.
