Mastermind Behind College Admissions Scandal Sentenced

The CEO of 'The Key' pleaded guilty to racketeering conspiracy, money laundering conspiracy, conspiracy to defraud the U.S., and obstruction of justice.

The organizer of the college admissions scandal, has been sentenced.

It was orchestrated by William Rick Singer, CEO of a college admissions prep company called “The Key”.

Singer sold two kinds of fraud. One was to cheat on the SAT or ACT and the other was to use his connections with Division I coaches as well as use bribes to get students into schools with fake athletic credentials.

Some parents paid between 15-75 thousand dollars per test to display a better score on their children’s records. Singer would arrange for a third party to secretly take the test in place of the students or replace their answers.
