Student Loan Program Remains Blocked, Heads to Supreme Court in February

Under the President's plan, some borrowers would have been eligible for up to 20-thousand dollars in student loan relief.

The Biden Administration’s student loan forgiveness is heading to the Supreme Court. Yesterday the court said it will take on the case between the administration and six states regarding the legality of the program. Arguments will be heard in February and the loan relief will remain on hold for now. Under the President’s plan, some borrowers would have been eligible for up to 20-thousand dollars in student loan relief. Last week, President Biden extended the pause of federal loan payments until june 30th while the court considers the dispute.
