CCU’s Football Game Canceled While UVA Grieves The Loss Of Players

The decision was made after the shooting of five students on campus last Saturday. The affair resulted in the deaths of three members of the UVA team.

The Virginia Athletics Department announced the cancelation of the football game that was scheduled for Saturday, between Coastal Carolina and the Cavaliers.

Players, Devin Chandler, Lavel Davis Jr, and D’Sean Perry, died as a result of the incident.

22-year-old, Christopher Jones Jr, is facing charges in connection with the shooting.

CCU Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics and University Recreation, Matt Hogue, said that they fully support the decision to cancel the game, and will continue offering assistance and contribute however they can toward the healing of their friends and colleagues at UVA.

CCU’s Head Coach, Jamey Chadwell, also shared condolences and said they stand in solidarity.
