Israeli Government Approved Maritime Border Deal With Lebanon

The agreement brings an on-going disagreement to an end that could benefit each country in their own way.

Israel’s government has approved a landmark U.S. brokered maritime border deal with Lebanon bringing a long-time disagreement to an end.

The deal has resulted in both countries agreeing to a permanent border of a 300 square mile section of the Mediterranean Sea that is home to two major gas fields.

The agreement entitles both countries to gain royalties from any energy explorations in the offshore gas field that lies on the border.

The mutual agreement does not technically wave a white flag between the two countries that have technically been at war, but it is simply an end to an on-going disagreement that could benefit each in their own way.
