A Man Incited A 7 Hour Standoff And Allegedly Kidnapped A Woman

The M.B. Fire Rescue, SWAT and Negotiations teams were called to assist with the situation.

A man that allegedly incited a seven hour stand-off in a Myrtle Beach neighborhood is accused of kidnapping a woman.

The Myrtle Beach Fire Station responded to 38th Avenue North following the report of a kidnapping and attempted murder.

The victim said 45-year-old, William Hodges of Virginia, hit her in the head with a hammer at their home on Longleaf Circle and threatened to kill her. He allegedly proceeded to tie her to a bed and continued threatening to hurt her if she attempted to escape. She ended up breaking loose and turned to the fire station for help.

Myrtle Beach SWAT and Negotiations teams were called to assist with the situation. The suspect refused to come out and fired multiple shots. Hodges attempted to barricade windows and set a mattress on fire. After the house caught blaze, he emerged and surrendered.

Hodges is facing several charges including 10 counts of attempted murder, 1 count of kidnapping and 1 count of second-degree arson.
