Myrtle Beach City Council Revives Efforts For Rock Fest

Organizers say the new dates would reduce staffing constraints adding that 40% of staff would be outsourced.

After previously denying the event, the Myrtle Beach City Council is reviving efforts to bring a rock festival to the area.

The council held a workshop to reconsider the proposal after it denied permits for ‘Rock Fest.’ Initially, city leaders cited heavy strain on resources like police officers, firefighters, and public safety staff during the busy spring season.

However, organizers, who also plan the Carolina Country Music Festival, are proposing for the event to be held April 30-May 2. They say the new dates would reduce staffing constraints adding that 40% of staff would be outsourced. Planners now have the greenlight to move forward with planning but not everything is set in stone.
