65 Americans Among The Missing After Nepal Floods

The U.S. State Department said it was closely monitoring the situation and sending an adviser to the region to help with response efforts.

Rescue and search missions are underway after a catastrophic, deadly torrent of floods and mud swept through several Nepal communities following a glacial collapse.

The head of Nepal’s Tourism Board reported that 65 Americans are among the 826 missing in the wake of the disaster. At least 353 people are dead.

The U.S. Embassy urged U.S. nationals in the region who were able, to contact their families, hotels, guides and trekking or tour companies as soon as possible however they could, but it noted that communications were still severely disrupted.
