Senate Committee To Hold Fauci In Contempt Of Congress

The vote came a week after Fauci invoked his Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination over 100 times when he appeared before the Senate Committee.

On Tuesday, a Senate Committee voted along party lines to hold Dr. Anthony Fauci in contempt of Congress.

The vote comes after his refusal to answer questions at a hearing on his handling of the COVID-19 pandemic. It sets up a referral to the Department of Justice for potential investigation over whether the top infectious disease official exercised his constitutional rights properly.

That raised legal questions about the ability of Congress to compel testimony from a previously pardoned witness.

It was said the constitutional protection did not apply to Fauci. It doesn’t apply because last year he was pardoned by President Biden and did not have to worry about the threat of prosecution.
