Chiefs Assistant Coach’s Son Charged After Shooting Mother

A Kansas City Chiefs assistant coach’s son has been arrested in connection to a shooting.

Eric Bieniemy’s wife, 57-year-old Mia, was found with multiple gunshot wounds in their Virginia home. She was taken to a hospital and is reportedly in stable condition.

Their son, 27-year-old Elijah, was arrested in connection to the shooting of his mother. He has been charged with malicious wounding, use of a firearm in commission of a felony and discharge of a firearm inside a dwelling. He is being held without bond at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center. The investigation remains underway.

Eric was with the Chiefs at a training camp in Missouri at the time of the shooting. He was not present for Monday’s activities. Chief’s coach Andy Reid said he is not sure how long Eric will be away from the team. Other members of the coaching staff will take over his duties as the Chiefs continue with offensive installations during training camp.
