Speeding Doesn’t Even Save You That Much Time
A study found that more than 43% of trips included at least one instance of speeding.
If you’re always tempted to drive a little faster to make up time, new research suggests it may not be worth it.
A University of Minnesota study analyzed more than 120 million trips and found that sticking to the speed limit would add an average of just 54 seconds to a driver’s daily travel time. Despite that tiny difference, more than 43% of trips included at least one instance of speeding. The study suggests many drivers overestimate how much time they’re saving by driving faster, when in reality the payoff is less than a minute a day.
