One Person Injured After Tractor-Trailer Fire On I-20

The truck was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived on the scene and the flames were spreading into the attached trailer.

One person was injured after a tractor-trailer caught fire on Tuesday night.

The incident happened around 11pm along Interstate-20 in Darlington County. The tractor-trailer fire ignited near mile marker 137.

The truck was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived on the scene and the flames were spreading into the attached trailer. Crews launched an aggressive attack on the fire while establishing a sustained water supply.

One person suffered burn injuries in the incident. EMS treated them on the scene before transporting them to a hospital for further evaluation and treatment.

The blaze was under control in around 30 minutes but crews remained on the scene until 4am due to the trailer’s cargo as they worked to complete overhaul operations and extinguish all remaining hot spots.

The cause of the fire is now under investigation.
