U.S. Hits Iran With “Powerful Strikes” After Strait Of Hormuz Attacks
A U.S. official said targets included air defense systems, coastal surveillance systems, surface-to-air missile sites and more.
American forces have started launching “powerful strikes” against Iran. The new attacks come in response to attacks on three commercial vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz.
A U.S. official said targets included air defense systems, coastal surveillance systems, surface-to-air missile sites, anti-ship cruise missile sites, drone launch sits, and port facilities.
The three commercial vessels were reportedly struck by Iran earlier this week prompting the U.S. to claw back oil sanctions waivers offered to Tehran.
The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations Centre raised the threat level in the Strait of Hormuz to “severe” after the tanker attacks.
President Trump said that he considers the tentative ceasefire with Iran to be “over” saying the agreement had become “a waste of time.” He said U.S. negotiators could continue talks with Iran but predicted they would go nowhere.
