Blue Material Floating In Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool

If the coating continues to lose adhesion in multiple locations, that could indicate a more significant concern. The issue is the latest to impact the centerpiece at the National Mall.

Following a multi-million dollar renovation, some blue material at the bottom of the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool is peeling off.

The issue comes just days after the pool was painted blue and refilled as part of a renovation ordered by President Trump.

A flap of the blue material that was partially attached to the bottom in one area of the pool is floating toward the top. It is unclear if the material is paint or sealant, and it’s unclear what caused it to come up.

The owner of the Atlantic Industrial Coatings firm that renovated the pool said there’s several things they have to address when they return for maintenance and if it’s a problem, it will be addressed.
