Scotland Co. Sheriff’s Office Officials Detain Suspect In 15 Minutes

46-year-old Timothy Jones was arrested and charged with larceny of a motor vehicle, possession of a stolen motor vehicle, and larceny of money.

The Scotland County Sheriff’s Office detained a suspect just 15 minutes after an initial report.

Major Rodger Alford arrived at Nic’s Pic Quick, a gas station at the intersection of Highway 74 and 79, when a woman approached him, claiming her car had been stolen.

Alford alerted all nearby deputies immediately. In 15 minutes, deputies were able to locate and stop the stolen vehicle.

46-year-old Timothy Jones was arrested and charged with larceny of a motor vehicle, possession of a stolen motor vehicle, and larceny of money.

An investigation discovered that Jones had arrived at the gas station in a previously stolen vehicle before stealing the victim’s car.

It is unclear if police located the owner of the initial stolen vehicle. Jones is being held at the Scotland County Detention Center without bond.
