Frontier Airlines Flight Diverted Due To Unruly Passenger

51-year-old Juan Reyes was arrested and charged with interference with flight crew members and attendants and more.

A Frontier Airlines flight bound for Chicago had to divert after a situation on board.

The flight had to divert to Miami International Airport because a passenger choked an off-duty flight attendant shortly after he tried to open an emergency exit door and enter the cockpit.

The passenger was identified as 51-year-old Juan Reyes. He reportedly became disruptive around 45 minutes after flight 3345 departed from San Juan, Puerto Rico. He said he wanted to get off the plane which is when he tried to open the exit door.

After being prevented from opening the door, he approached the cockpit and began “shoving his shoulder aggressively on the pilot’s door.” He also attempted to urinate on the floor. He was seated and an off-duty flight attendant volunteered to sit with him, which Reyes began choking.

Reyes was restrained with flex cuffs, but broke out of them several times. The flight ultimately had to land and Reyes was arrested and charged with interference with flight crew members and attendants and assault with maritime and territorial jurisdiction.
