SC Forestry Commission Lifts Statewide Burning Ban
The ban was placed on Friday due to low humidity levels and gusty winds.
The South Carolina Forestry Commission has lifted a statewide burn ban.
The ban was placed on Friday due to low humidity levels and gusty winds. Conditions have since settled.
However, officials said even with the ban ending, elevated drought conditions are expected to keep fire danger above average. Dry conditions and ongoing drought mean the wildfire risk remains high.
The commission is reminding residents that anyone who burns outdoors and allows a fire to escape, will be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law. Residents planning to burn residential yard debris or conduct prescribed burns must still notify before burning.
