Public Input Sessions To Help Select New Myrtle Beach Police Chief

The sessions come as current Chief Amy Prock is set to retire on April 2.

Myrtle Beach officials are inviting the community to upcoming public input sessions.

The sessions will be held in order to help shape the selection of the next police chief. ‘Public Sector Search and Consulting’ is a firm that specializes in police chief recruitment that will lead the process.

The firm will meet with members of the police department, city council and city staff to “help identify the qualities and leadership style best suited for Myrtle Beach’s next police chief.”

The sessions come as current Chief Amy Prock is set to retire on April 2. Assistant Chief Chris Smith will serve as interim. The dates and times of the sessions are listed below.

  • April 20 at 6pm at Mary C. Canty Recreation Center
  • April 21 at 6pm at Claire Chapin Epps Family YMCA
  • April 22 at 6pm at General Robert H. Reed Recreation Center

Business Community Input Session:

  • April 20 at 11am at Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce
