Jack Teixeira Sentenced After Pleading Guilty To Leaking Classified Docs

Prosecutors requested the max of 17-years, but his lawyers argued for the low end of the range.

Jack Teixeira was sentenced Tuesday after pleading guilty to leaking classified military documents.

The former Massachusetts Air National Guard member admitted to sharing the sensitive secret information online through the platform ‘Discord.’

Teixeira was arrested in April of 2023. In March, Teixeira pled guilty to six counts of willful retention and transmission of national defense information under the Espionage Act. That motion was part of an agreement, which included a recommended sentence of 11-17 years.

Prosecutors requested the max of 17-years, but his lawyers argued for the low end of the range.

The judge overseeing the case sentenced Teixeira to 15-years for his actions.
