Nearly 142,000 Bissell brand Multi Reach Hand and Floor Vacuum Cleaners were recalled.
The battery packs on the vacuums could cause a fire hazard because of smoke and overheating.
The company has received 17 reports of smoke and burning smells coming from the products, six of which resulted in an actual fire. Three caused minor property damage and the other three caused minor burns.
The vacuums were sold nationwide at retailers including Walmart, Target, Lowe’s and more.
