Danelo Cavalcante was convicted on August 16th for fatally stabbing his ex girlfriend in 2021. He was sentenced to the Chester County Prison from which he escaped on August 31st.

Schools were closed and many residents were put on alert as police conducted a search for the fugitive that spanned nearly 20 miles north of the prison.

Late Tuesday night, a burglary alarm triggered at a residence just miles from where police had been searching, which brought officials to the area where they later found the fugitive still on the run.

Around 8a.m. Wednesday morning Cavalcante was captured. Though he was able to get a rifle while he was on the run, no one was injured during his arrest. He will now be transported to a State Correctional Institute where he will serve the rest of his sentence.

Cavalcante is also a fugitive in Brazil in a 2017 homicide case.
