Union Auto Workers Threaten To Go On Strike

Any strike would likely cause significant disruptions for auto production in the U.S..

Nearly 146 thousand U.S. Auto workers are threatening to go on strike this week if a deal cannot be reached.

Shawn Fain, the president of the United Auto Workers Union, warned the strikes will happen if an agreement is not reached by the time its current contract expires before midnight on Thursday.

The Union is asking for 46% raises in general pay over four years. Along with several other key requests, the most important to the Union is for them to be allowed to represent workers at 10 Electric Vehicle battery factories which the union wants to receive top UAW wages as many vehicles transition to EV’s.
