Protestors Disrupted And Delayed U.S. Open Women’s Semi-Final

American Coco Gauff was leading the match 1 to nothing when four climate protesters stirred up a commotion causing a disturbance in the upper bowl of Arthur Ashe Stadium.

Climate protesters stalled the U.S. Open Women’s Semi-final between American Coco Gauff and Karolina Muchova.

Gauff was leading the match 1 to nothing when four climate protesters stirred up a commotion causing a disturbance in the upper bowl of Arthur Ashe Stadium.

A group called “Extinction Rebellion” said they were not trying to harm the athletes in any way and they have nothing against the sport, they were simply attempting to draw attention to climate change by stating there will be no tennis left for anybody in the world to enjoy if tampering with the climate continues.

Three of the protesters were removed and taken into custody immediately. However, the match was delayed for an hour because one of the environmentalists glued their feet to the concrete floor which took a team involving medical personnel to address.

After all was said and done, Gauff went on to win and advance to the finals which is Saturday.
