Murdaugh’s Attorneys File For A New Trial
The motion alleges the Clerk of Court betrayed her oath of office for money and fame and the law does not allow the court any discretion about how to respond.
The attorneys who represent Alex Murdaugh have officially filed for a new trial.
Earlier this year, the disbarred South Carolina lawyer was convicted of killing his wife Maggie and youngest son Paul on their hunting property in June of 2021.
The filing alleges that the Clerk of Court, Rebecca Hill, tampered with the jury by advising them not to believe Murdaugh’s testimony and other evidence presented by the defense, pressuring them to reach a quick guilty verdict. She is also accused of misrepresenting critical and material information to the trial judge in her campaign to remove a juror she believed to be favorable to the defense.
The motion alleges Hill betrayed her oath of office for money and fame and the law does not allow the court any discretion about how to respond. Therefor, Murdaugh’s attorney’s believe he must be granted a new trial.
