The boxes aim to assist officers in getting information from community members in regards to any crime.
The very first box was placed on Highway 38 in Latta at the Oak Grove Fire Department. Many more are set to be placed at additional fire departments, resource centers, and churches.
The boxes are being placed in honor of the late Sheriff Douglas Pernell who came up with the idea and passed away before he could carry through with it.
