Snake Species Named After Harrison Ford

Harrison Ford is being honored in an unexpected way. The actor had a newly-discovered snake species named after him. According to the scientific journal ‘Salamandra’, a snake species found in the Andes Mountains in Peru is now called “Tachymenoides Harrisonfordi.” The 81-year-old star told the Hollywood Reporter quote, “This discovery is humbling.” The species is a brown and yellow snake about 16 inches long and reportedly harmless to humans…its diet mostly consisting of lizards and frogs. The tribute is a nod to Ford’s beloved movie character, Indiana Jones, and his fear of snakes.
