Funeral And Visitation Scheduled For Late Dillon County Sheriff

Douglas Pernell passed away unexpectedly at his home on Monday. He served as sheriff since 2021 and worked in law enforcement for over 30 years.

Funeral and viewing arrangements have been set for the late Dillon County Sheriff Douglas Pernell.

Pernell passed away unexpectedly at his home on Monday. He served as sheriff since 2021 and worked in law enforcement for over 30 years.

Pernell was the first African American sheriff in Dillon County.

Visitation has been scheduled from 12-7p.m. on Saturday at Manning Baptist Church in Dillon and his funeral service has been set for 2p.m. on Sunday at the Florence Civic Center.
