Georgetown County Schools Start New Year-Round Calendar

They will have two additional breaks on top of the typical Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays.

On August 3rd, Georgetown County students started the first day of a new modified year-round school calendar.

Through the new schedule, students will get out for summer break at the end of May instead of the beginning of June.

The summer break will be shortened as a whole as well, but the kids will not lose the original time off. Instead, they will have two additional breaks on top of the typical Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays.

They will have a week off in October and another week in February.

Elementary through 6th grade will also have slightly longer days than last year as the district has tacked on an extra 15 minutes.

There are no changes in school hours for middle and high school students.
