Residents were switched over to sending and receiving their mail from a mobile vendor along Highway 9 after original building burnt down.
On Monday, state, county, and federal officials gathered with landlords to break ground on a new post office building in Longs.
The old building burnt down in a fire 2 years ago.
Residents were switched over to sending and receiving their mail from a mobile vendor along Highway 9.
The new post office has been a long time coming for the area and construction is expected to last for 10 to 12 months before a fully functioning post office building returns to the community.
