Two People Charged After Child Overdosed

The suspects admitted to having THC gummies in the home and a search found that some were on the floor and in reach of the three-year-old.

Two people have been arrested in connection to the overdose of a three-year-old.

On June 4th, the Marlboro County Sheriff’s Office was called to a residence near State Street for reports of an unresponsive child.

The child was then taken to a near-by hospital for treatment where the county’s investigation division found the child ingested THC gummies that led to an overdose.

60-year-old Susan Long and 58-year-old Timothy Long were both present at the time of the incident and were in charge of care of the child.

The Long’s admitted to having the gummies in the home and a search found that some were on the floor and in reach of the child.

The three year old did survive the overdose and both suspects were arrested as well as charged with unlawful neglect of a child and have been detained at the Marlboro County Detention Center on a surety bond of $20 thousand.
