Man Pleads Guilty To Kidnapping Plot Of Michigan Governor

The suspect was the ninth person convicted in the plot and three more are set to face trial in August.

One of the men who schemed to kidnap Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, pleaded guilty in state court on Wednesday.

In 2020, a militia group called the Wolverine Watchmen, planned the kidnapping operation and were allegedly aiming to instigate a civil war leading to societal collapse.

40-year-old Shawn Fix did not lead the group but he was involved in it and their meetings. He plead guilty to one count of providing material support for an act of terrorism.

Fix now faces up to 20 years in prison. He was the ninth person convicted in the plot and three more are set to face trial in August.
