Texas Lawmakers Approved Law Restricting Trans College Athletes

The 'Save Women's Sports Act' is now on its way to Texas Governor, Dan Patrick's desk for signature, who has already stated he would sign the bill into law if it advanced to his desk.

The Texas House approved a bill that would require college athletes to compete on teams that align with their gender assigned at birth.

‘Senate Bill.15’ is referred to as the ‘Save Women’s Sports Act’. Under the legislation, transgender women would have to play on men’s collegiate sports teams and transgender men would have to play on women’s sports teams.

The Texas Senate approved the bill in March with a 19-10 vote and the state House passed it with a 93-49 vote.

The ‘Save Women’s Sports Act’ is now on its way to Texas Governor, Dan Patrick’s desk for signature, who has already stated he would sign the bill into law if it advanced to his desk.
