Two Fighting Forces In Sudan Agree To Seven Days Of Ceasefire
A disagreement set off an intense clash between both sides and prompted a mass exodus of refugees from the conflicted country.
The two forces in Sudan have been in an on-going highly intense conflict, and have now reached a temporary agreement.
On Tuesday, the Sudanese Armed Forces and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces agreed to a seven day cease-fire. Both sides said they would send representatives to participate in peace talks.
Previous attempts have reportedly failed to stop the fighting between the rival’s across their country, due to failed negotiations between the faction’s leaders.
Last month a disagreement set off an intense clash between both sides and prompted a mass exodus of refugees from the conflicted country, which has resulted in the deaths of at least 528 people so far.
Nearly 73 thousand people along with thousands of foreign nationals, have already fled Sudan to neighboring countries in an attempt to escape the violent conflict.
