The republican field for 2024 may be expanding…again. At a political event yesterday in Charleston, Tim Scott said he’ll make a “major” 2024 announcement on May 22nd. The announcement is expected to be Scott’s formal declaration of presidential candidacy. Like other GOP candidates, he would have to tackle Donald Trump, who has widened his lead among republican primary voters. This comes following Scott’s launch of a presidential exploratory committee in early April, in which he said that he will “never back down in defense of the conservative values that make america exceptional.”
