Biden Proposed Rule New Law For Transgender Student Athletes

The goal is to allow trans students to play on certain sports teams based on eligibility criteria versus category of what they identify as.

On Thursday, the Biden administration proposed a new federal law in regards to transgender student athletes.

If passed, the rule would establish that some policies violate Title IX when they ban trans students from participating on sports teams by category of their gender identity.

The proposed law is intended to support Title IX’s protection for equal athletics opportunity. A framework would be provided for the criteria such as fairness in competition, meeting proposed regulations, and ability to achieve educational objective, and more.
