Canada Geese are protected under the federal Migratory Bird Act of 1918. It is illegal to harass or harm a goose as well as move or damage its nest or eggs without proper permission.
Fines for breaking this law start at $5 thousand and can go as high as $10 thousand.
The geese typically lay five to six eggs at a time and incubate the eggs for nearly four weeks.
