Set aside a little time to make a phone call today… a behavioral psychiatrist says so! She suggests that we should be talking with family members on the phone for at least 12 minutes every day in order to reduce stress. Sure a text is more convenient but, an actual phone call can be a lot more of a mood booster. When we speak to our loved ones, we release chemicals including serotonin, dopamine, endorphins, and oxytocin. But, before you make a call, she says to be ‘fully engaged’ and in the moment, in order to get the most out of it.
