The co-founder of a popular life-style brand has been sentenced to prison after pleading guilty.
56-year-old, Michael Hutto, is the co-founder of Jacksonville-based brand ‘Salt Life’ and he faces charges for manslaughter.
On Thursday, the suspect changed his plea in a Palm Beach County courtroom in the death of 18-year-old, Lora Duncan. Police arrived at an oceanfront Hilton hotel in Riviera Beach on October 29th of 2020 for a welfare check on Duncan.
Upon arrival, hotel staff assisted police in opening the door to the room where her body was found on the bathroom floor covered in blood with a gunshot wound to her stomach. The room was booked under Hutto’s name and police found his wallet and ID inside and an alert was issued for him immediately.
After being found he was arrested and charged with homicide-manslaughter and possession or use of a weapon.
Salt Life shared their condolences to the family of Duncan and stated that the co-founder had not been associated with the brand since the purchase in 2013.
